Nymph · Midge · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig hook (Fulling Mill FM5125 Jig Force) with tungsten jig/drop bead, 16-20
  • Thread Pale gray 12/0 (Semperfli classic waxed)

Materials

  • Tungsten jig/drop bead Silver bead (1)
  • 2-fly wire (rib) Ice blue (1 length)
  • Ice Dub (thorax) UV gray ice dub (small pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the tungsten jig-bomb bead onto the jig hook, secure it in the vise, and start the pale gray thread behind the bead; lock it in and trim the tag.
  2. Wrap the thread down the shank and back up.
  3. Tie in ice-blue 2-fly wire along the near side, wrap the thread forward past the tie-in, then take clean touching wraps back up to cover the wire.
  4. Wrap the wire forward in evenly spaced open turns for segmentation; secure it behind the bead and helicopter off.
  5. Dub a small, tight noodle of UV gray Ice Dub and wrap a slim thorax behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and pull tight.
