  • Hook Jig hook, 60-degree eye, 10-12
  • Thread Brown or olive 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Black or gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Coq de Leon or pheasant tail (tail) Pardo / brown (6-8 fibers)
  • Pheasant tail or dubbing (abdomen) Olive-brown fine dubbing (pinch / few fibers)
  • Ultra wire (rib) Copper wire (1 strand, small)
  • Flashback / Thin Skin (wingcase) Pearl / mottled flashback thin skin (1 strip)
  • Hare / SLF dubbing (thorax) Dark olive-brown simi seal dubbing (pinch)
  • Partridge (legs) Brown mottled partridge (few fibers)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted tungsten bead at the eye and start the thread on the shank.
  2. Tie in a tail of Coq de Leon or pheasant fibers, about half a shank long, to imitate the drake nymph's tails.
  3. Catch in the copper wire, then build a slim tapered olive-brown abdomen forward to the 55% mark.
  4. Rib the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter it off, then bind in a flashback strip.
  5. Dub a fuller, buggy thorax behind the bead.
  6. Pull the flashback over the thorax, bind it behind the bead, and divide a few partridge fibers to each side as legs.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of cement.
