Mount the Tiemco 3769 nymph hook, start the yellow thread at the back of the fly and bind in the small copper wire for the rib.
Bind six or seven natural Pheasant Tail fibres in by their tips at the back of the fly, then advance the thread two-thirds of the way up the shank.
Wrap the pheasant tail forward as the body to the two-thirds point and trim out the excess.
Bind about ten fibres of brown Sparkle Emerger Yarn in on top of the shank. Keep the count down - this fly is meant to be tied sparse.
Sweep the yarn back over the top of the body, catch it under the copper wire and spiral the wire forward in evenly spaced turns to pin it down, then capture the wire and break it out.
Trim the trailing yarn to about half the length of the body, then rough it up and kink it so it reads as a beaten-up shuck.
Cut a generous clump of bleached deer hair and trim the butt ends square - a blunt edge makes a cleaner tie-in - then bind it in on top of the shank at the front of the body.
Dub PMD Superfine Dubbing onto the thread and build a rounded thorax, adding the dubbing a little at a time in stages rather than piling it on in one turn.
Pull all the deer hair up and over the top of the thorax and capture it with a wrap of thread, then take a few more wraps over and under it to lock it down. Trim out the deer hair.
Touch a tiny amount of the same dubbing onto the thread and cover the deer hair butts to finish the head - that is all it takes.
