Microfibbets or hackle fibers (tail) Dun microfibbets (4-6 fibers, split)
Fine dry-fly dubbing (body) Pale morning dun / pale yellow-olive (pinch)
Turkey flat or poly (wing) Light dun turkey flat or poly (small clump)
Dry-fly hackle Ginger or light dun dry fly hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
Start the thread at the eye and run a smooth base to the bend.
Split a small bunch of tailing fibers into two divided tails, each a shank length long, using a tiny dubbing ball to spread them.
Dub a slim tapered abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
Stand a light dun wing upright at the 65% mark and post it with a few thread turns around its base (a single upright wing in the thorax-dun style).
Tie in the hackle at the base of the wing.
Dub the thorax up to the eye, then wind the hackle 4-5 turns through the thorax and around the wing base, and clip the underside flat so the fly sits low.
Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement.
