  • Thread Golden brown 6/0

Materials

  • Goose or turkey biots (tail) Brown goose biots (2)
  • Dubbing (abdomen) Golden tan dubbing (pinch)
  • Ultra wire (rib) Copper wire (1 strand, medium)
  • Thin Skin or turkey (wingcase) Mottled brown thin skin (1 strip)
  • Hare / SLF dubbing (thorax) Golden brown ice dub (pinch)
  • Hen or partridge (legs) Brown mottled partridge (few fibers)
  • Goose biots (antennae) Brown goose biots (2)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread behind the eye and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in two brown biots splayed in a V for tails, each about half a shank long.
  3. Catch in the copper wire, then dub a slim, tapered golden abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Rib the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and tie off, then bind in a strip of mottled Thin Skin for the wingcase.
  5. Dub a fuller, buggy thorax over the front third.
  6. Fold the wingcase forward over the thorax and bind it at the eye, then pull a few partridge fibers to each side as legs.
  7. Tie two biots angled forward as antennae, then whip finish and cement the head.
