Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Barbless jig hook, 60-degree eye, 14-18
  • Thread Fluorescent pink 8/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Silver or copper slotted tungsten bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Coq de Leon fibers (tail) Pardo (6-8 fibers)
  • Ultra wire (rib) Silver wire (1 strand, small)
  • Ice Dub (collar) UV pink ice dub (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Seat the slotted tungsten bead at the eye and start the thread on the shank.
  2. Bind a short Coq de Leon tail about half a shank long and lock the butts forward.
  3. Tie in the silver wire, then build a slim tapered pink thread body forward to just behind the bead.
  4. Rib the wire forward in 5-6 open turns and helicopter it off.
  5. Dub a small UV pink collar tight behind the bead, then whip finish.
  6. Coat the thread body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure it so the fly stays slim and sinks fast.
