Pinky Midge

Reference Recipe

• Hook Curved midge / scud hook, 18-22
• Thread Fluorescent pink 8/0 or 70 denier

Materials

• Bead Silver bead (1, sized to hook)
• Ultra wire (rib) Silver wire (1 strand, extra-small)
• Antron or Zelon (gills) White poly yarn (tiny tuft (optional))

How to tie it

1. Slide the silver bead to the eye and start the thread just behind it.
2. Catch in the silver wire at the bead, then wind the thread down the shank to the start of the bend in smooth touching turns.
3. Return the thread forward to the bead, building a slim, slightly tapered pink body.
4. Rib the silver wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter it off tight behind the bead.
5. If you want gills, tie a tiny white tuft in front of the bead and trim it short.
6. Whip finish behind the bead and add a drop of thin cement or UV resin over the body.
