  • Hook Barbless jig hook (Hanak 400 BL or equivalent), 14
  • Thread Red 70 denier

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Light pink bead (1 (3.0mm))
  • Lead wire n/a (.015, a few turns)
  • Coq de Leon perdigon fibers (tail) Fluorescent hot pink coq de leon perdigon fibers (6-8 fibers)
  • Holographic tinsel (abdomen) Red holographic tinsel (1 strand, medium)
  • Ultra wire (rib) Gold wire (1 strand, small)
  • Ice Dub (hot spot) UV shrimp pink (pinch)
  • Ice Dub (thorax) Peacock ice dub (pinch)
  • Brahma hen (soft hackle) Natural partridge (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the pink bead to the eye, start the thread and add a few turns of lead behind the bead, shoving them into the bead slot to help it seat.
  2. Bind the fluorescent pink Coq de Leon tail, about half a shank long, and lock the butts forward.
  3. Tie in the gold wire, then wrap the red holographic tinsel forward to the 65% mark as the abdomen.
  4. Counter-rib the wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns and helicopter it off.
  5. Dub a short band of UV shrimp-pink Ice Dub as a hot spot, then a slightly fuller peacock Ice Dub thorax behind the bead.
  6. Tie in a Brahma hen feather by the tip and take one or two turns as a soft-hackle collar, then sweep the fibers back and bind.
  7. Whip finish behind the bead and touch the thread wraps with UV finish, curing it hard.
