How to tie it
Mount the heavy steelhead hook and lay a thread base down the shank to just ahead of the hook point.
Tail: clean the underfur out of a small clump of hot pink bucktail, stack it, and tie in a short tail at that point, taking a loop of thread around the base to lock it.
Tie in the small oval silver tinsel on the side and clip it into a material keeper, then tie in the clear Mylar strip at the same point.
Bind the butts of both materials all the way up the shank to the front so the underbody stays level and lump-free, then take the thread back to the rear.
Underbody: tie in the hot pink floss, wrap it back over the rear to cover all the thread, then forward in tight touching turns to just behind the eye. Tie off and trim.
Overbody: wrap the clear Mylar strip forward over the pink floss in even turns. It gives the body a translucent shell, and tie it off at the front.
Body hackle: tie the white saddle in right behind the eye and, using the rotary vise in reverse, wrap it backwards down the body in wide open turns to the rear.
Bring the oval tinsel forward through the hackle in open turns to lock it down, taking care not to pinch too many barbs, and tie the tinsel off at the front. Cut the hackle tip off.
Wing: stack a clump of hot pink bucktail, pull the longest hairs out, and tie it in on top reaching to about the end of the tail. Trim the butts.
Throat: pinch a small bunch of guinea fibers, even the tips and tie them in underneath, bringing them around the sides a little if you want a fuller collar. Take good tight wraps over the bucktail butts.
Build and whip finish the head, then coat it with thin UV resin, let a little run down into the bucktail for durability, and cure it.
