Nymph · Trout · Steelhead · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Jig nymph hook, 60-degree, 12-16
  • Thread Pink 8/0

Materials

  • Bead Silver slotted tungsten (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail Coq de Leon (6-8 fibers)
  • Body Pink ears (thread or pearl-pink tinsel)
  • Collar Black or UV material (thin pinch dubbing)
  • Coating Clear head cement (thin UV resin)

How to tie it

  1. Seat a silver slotted tungsten bead behind the eye on the jig hook and lay a thread base.
  2. Tie in a small bunch of coq de leon fibers for a tail about one shank length long.
  3. Build a smooth, tapered pink body forward with thread or pearl-pink tinsel to just behind the bead.
  4. Dub a small dark or UV collar right behind the bead as a contrast trigger.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead.
  6. Coat the pink body with a thin layer of UV resin and cure for a slick, fast-sinking finish.
