Reference Recipe

  • Hook Salmon/steelhead up-eye (Atlantic salmon bomber), 2
  • Thread White 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Butt Silver metal tape (small oval tinsel)
  • Body Holographic silver flashabou (Mylar tinsel)
  • Rib Silver metal tape (small oval tinsel)
  • Wing Gray fox fur (prepared clump)
  • Cheeks/flash UV pearl crystal flash (crystal flash both sides)
  • Collar Dun or gray material (1 soft hackle (optional))

How to tie it

  1. Start the white thread and tie in a short length of small oval silver tinsel; wind a small butt at the bend, then bind the tinsel along the underside as the rib material.
  2. Wrap holographic silver Mylar forward for the body up to the 75% mark and tie off.
  3. Counter-wrap the oval silver rib forward 5-6 evenly spaced turns and secure.
  4. Tie a prepared clump of gray fox fur on top so the tips reach the hook bend, keeping it sparse with firm minimal wraps.
  5. Lay a few strands of UV pearl crystal flash along each side of the wing.
  6. Optionally fold and wind a soft dun hackle as a collar and sweep it back.
  7. Build a neat thread head, whip finish and cement.
