Reference Recipe

  • Hook Articulated streamer / pike hooks, 3/0 front hook articulated to a rear shank/hook
  • Thread To match GSP or 3/0

Materials

  • Rear tail To taste (long rabbit zonker strip + flash)
  • Rear collar Matching leather strip (1 schlappen, palmered)
  • Articulation - (heavy wire or braid loop + beads)
  • Front wing Matching leather strip (rabbit strip over top)
  • Front collar Matching leather strip (2 schlappen)
  • Eyes - (1 pair large 3D eyes)

How to tie it

  1. On the rear hook or shank, tie in a long rabbit zonker strip at the bend for a tail two to three shank lengths long and add flash along the sides.
  2. Palmer a schlappen feather in front of the tail as a rear collar and stroke the fibers back.
  3. Join the rear section to the front hook with a heavy wire or braid loop, threading a bead or two over the connection so the sections hinge and undulate.
  4. On the front hook tie in another rabbit strip over the top, reaching back to blend with the rear section.
  5. Palmer one to two schlappen collars in front of the wing for bulk and pulse.
  6. Glue large 3D eyes to the sides of the head, build a smooth thread head, whip finish and cement.
