Materials
Brass or tungsten bead Black bead (1, sized to hook)
Marabou (tail) Burnt orange and brown (Sparse clump of each)
Flashabou (tail) Pearl flashabou (1 strand, doubled)
Rabbit fur from the hide (body) Gold variant / multicolored tan (One good clump, cut close to the hide)
Zap-A-Gap / super glue - (One drop under the bead)
How to tie it
Slip the black bead onto the 2X long nymph hook (tungsten for an extra-heavy version) and mount the hook.
Attach the 140 thread and coat the whole shank with thread, winding back to the barb.
Put a small drop of Zap-A-Gap on the shank behind the bead and slide the bead back over the wet glue so it cannot creep back while you fish it.
Tail: clip a sparse bunch each of burnt orange and brown marabou, choosing plumes with pointy tips and plenty of fluff at the base. Even the tips, stack the burnt orange on top, and tie the tail in about one shank length long or slightly longer. Bind the butts down.
Cut one strand of pearl Flashabou, tie it down along one side of the tail, bend it around and tie it down along the other side, then trim both to the length of the tail.
Pull about 10-12 inches of thread off, double it back and wind over both legs of the loop to form a dubbing loop, then wax the loop thread well.
Trim a good clump of gold variant rabbit fur as close to the hide as you can, open the loop and lay the fur in across the middle, spreading it evenly up and down the loop so there are no clumps.
Close the loop with a dubbing twister and spin it tight, if you can run your fingers through it and the fur stays put. It is tight enough.
Wrap the fur chenille forward, stroking the fibers back after every turn or two, giving the shank a thick coat and adding a couple of extra wraps right behind the bead. Tie off the loop and trim.
Take a couple of very tight wraps behind the bead, whip finish and touch the exposed thread with head cement or Zap-A-Gap.
