Pheasant Tail UV-Beadhead

Materials

  • Bead Gold bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail / abdomen / wingcase Natural cock pheasant tail (5-6 fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Thorax UV pearl / peacock UV Ice Dub (thin pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Seat a gold bead behind the eye, small hole first. Start thread behind the bead and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in 5-6 pheasant tail fibers for a one-shank-length tail; bind in the copper wire at the bend.
  3. Rope the pheasant fibers and wrap the abdomen forward to the 60% mark; tie off.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib 5-6 turns and secure.
  5. Tie in a bunch of pheasant fibers as a wingcase, then dub a buggy UV Ice Dub thorax up to the bead so it flashes.
  6. Pull the wingcase over the sparkling thorax, tie down behind the bead, snip, whip finish and cement.
