Materials

  • Tail / abdomen Amber / sulphur-dyed pheasant tail (3-4 fibers)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine wire)
  • Wingcase Sulphur-dyed pheasant tail (small bunch)
  • Thorax Amber / pale yellow material (thin pinch dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Cover the shank to the bend and tie in 3-4 amber pheasant fibers for a tail half a shank length long.
  2. Bind in the gold wire, twist the pheasant fibers into a rope and wrap a slim abdomen forward to the 65% mark; tie off.
  3. Counter-wrap the gold rib 4-5 evenly spaced turns and secure.
  4. Tie in a small bunch of amber pheasant fibers as a wingcase pointing rearward.
  5. Dub a slim amber-to-pale-yellow thorax, slightly fuller than the abdomen.
  6. Pull the wingcase over, tie down behind the eye, snip, whip finish and cement.
