Materials

  • Tail / abdomen / wingcase Natural cock pheasant tail (3-4 fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Flashback Pearl flashabou (3-4 strands Mylar/Krystal Flash)
  • Thorax Peacock ice dub (1-2 herls)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base to the bend and tie in 3-4 pheasant tail fibers for a sparse tail half a shank length long.
  2. Bind in the copper wire, then twist the pheasant fibers into a rope and wrap a thin abdomen forward to the 65% mark; tie off.
  3. Counter-wrap the rib forward 4-5 turns and secure.
  4. Tie in a small bunch of pheasant fibers as a wingcase and, over the top of them, tie in the pearl flash strands pointing rearward.
  5. Dub or wrap a slim peacock thorax to behind the eye.
  6. Pull the pheasant wingcase forward and tie down, then pull the pearl flash over the top of the wingcase and tie down so it shines as a back; snip, whip finish, cement.
