  • Hook barbless jig nymph hook, 14-18
  • Thread brown 10/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Copper or gold slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Pheasant tail fibers Natural pheasant tail fibers (small bunch)
  • Fine wire rib Copper wire (1 strand)
  • Peacock herl or hare dubbing Natural peacock herl (as needed)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a slotted tungsten bead onto the barbless jig hook and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a pheasant tail tail one half shank long and bind a copper wire at the base.
  3. Wrap pheasant tail forward to the 65% mark for a slim body and counter-rib with the copper wire in 5-6 open turns.
  4. Leave the pheasant tips forward for the wing case, then wrap a peacock-herl or dubbed thorax up to the bead.
  5. Fold the pheasant tips back over the thorax as a wing case, tie down behind the bead, and split leftover tips as legs.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and add a drop of head cement.
