Slide the copper bead onto a barbless jig hook with a wide gape, start the thread and take a few turns to seat and secure the bead.
Bind a piece of red holographic tinsel in and carry it the length of the shank, then take a few turns of it at the rear to leave a red spot at the tail.
Pair the tips of six to ten coq de León grizzly hackle barbs and bind them in as the tail, the same length as the hook shank; wrap back over the butts.
Tie in the fine copper wire at the tail for the rib.
Take four to eight pheasant tail barbs — five or six on a size 14 — pair them, fix them by the points, trim the excess, and wrap the thread back over them.
Wrap the pheasant tail barbs forward to form the body and tie off, trimming the spare fibers.
Spiral the copper wire forward over the body in even turns and secure it.
Twist a small pinch of Hareline Hare'e Ice Dub, peacock, onto the thread and wrap a short thorax.
Tie one cul de canard feather in by the heel, cut the butt, and take a couple of turns as a leg collar; trim any fibers left too long.
Add the usual drop of head cement and whip finish.
