Materials

  • Pheasant tail fibers Natural pheasant tail fibers (small bunch)
  • Fine wire rib Copper wire (1 strand)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2-3 strands)
  • Pearl tinsel (partial wing case) Pearl flashabou (few strands)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the eye and run a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a pheasant tail tail one half shank long and bind a copper wire at the base.
  3. Wrap pheasant tail forward to the 65% mark for the body and counter-rib with the copper wire in 5-6 open turns.
  4. Wrap a peacock thorax to just behind the eye, then tie in a short length of pearl tinsel.
  5. Pull the tinsel forward over only the front half of the thorax as a half wing case and tie it off at the eye.
  6. Whip finish, snip, and add a drop of head cement.
