  • Hook standard nymph hook, 12-16

Materials

  • Brass or tungsten bead Gold bead (1)
  • Pheasant tail fibers Natural pheasant tail fibers (small bunch)
  • Fine wire rib Copper wire (1 strand)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2-3 strands)
  • Flashback material Pearl flashabou (few strands)
  • Hot-spot thread or thorax dubbing Red ice dub (few turns)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold bead to the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a pheasant tail tail one half shank long and bind a copper wire and a strand of pearl flash at the base.
  3. Wrap pheasant tail forward to the 60% mark as the body and counter-rib with the wire in 5-6 turns.
  4. Add a few turns of red hot-spot as an accent at the front of the abdomen, then wrap a peacock thorax to the bead.
  5. Pull the pearl flash and then a pheasant-tail wing case forward over the thorax, tie both down behind the bead, and split leftover tips as legs.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead, snip, and add head cement.
