Materials

  • Bead Gold (brass) bead (1, sized to hook)
  • Tail / abdomen / wingcase Natural cock pheasant tail (5-6 fibers)
  • Rib Copper thorax stripe (fine wire)
  • Thorax Peacock ice dub (2-3 herls)

How to tie it

  1. Slide a gold brass bead on small-hole first and seat it behind the eye. Start thread and lay a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in 5-6 pheasant fibers for a one-shank-length tail; bind in the copper wire.
  3. Rope the pheasant fibers and wrap the abdomen to the 60% mark; tie off.
  4. Counter-wrap the copper rib 5-6 evenly spaced turns and secure.
  5. Tie in a wingcase bunch of pheasant fibers, then wrap a peacock herl thorax up to the bead.
  6. Pull the wingcase over, tie down behind the bead, snip, whip finish and cement.
