Perdigon Flash Nymph-Tungsten

Nymph · Trout · Grayling · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook jig or standard nymph hook, 14-18
  • Thread black 12/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Silver bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon fibers Natural coq de leon fibers (small bunch)
  • Holographic tinsel or Mylar Pearl/silver flashabou (as needed)
  • Hot-spot thread Red thread (few turns)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (thin coat)

How to tie it

  1. Seat a slotted tungsten bead at the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short Coq de Leon tail, one half shank long.
  3. Bind holographic tinsel at the tail and wrap it forward in touching turns to build a bright, flashy body; tie off short of the bead.
  4. Add a few turns of red hot-spot thread behind the bead and whip finish.
  5. Snip the thread and skim the whole flashy body with thin UV resin, curing to a glossy, fast-sinking shell.
