Reference Recipe

  • Hook jig nymph hook, 14-18
  • Thread olive 12/0

Materials

  • Slotted tungsten bead Gold bead (1)
  • Coq de Leon fibers Natural coq de leon fibers (small bunch)
  • Body thread or Spanish quill Olive veevus body quill (as needed)
  • Hot-spot thread Orange hot spot thread (few turns)
  • UV resin Clear uv resin (thin coat)

How to tie it

  1. Seat a slotted tungsten bead against the eye and start thread behind it.
  2. Tie in a short tail of Coq de Leon fibers, one half shank long, splayed slightly.
  3. Build a slim, glossy tapered body forward with the thread or quill, stopping short of the bead.
  4. Add a few turns of orange hot-spot thread right behind the bead as a trigger.
  5. Whip finish behind the bead and snip.
  6. Coat the body and hot spot with thin UV resin and cure hard for a fast-sinking, durable shell.
