Nymph · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook wide-gap popper/stinger hook with hump shank, 2-6
- Thread yellow 3/0
Materials
- Pre-shaped foam or cork popper body Yellow/perch (1)
- Saddle hackle Grizzly hackle (2-4)
- Flash Pearl flashabou (6-8 strands)
- Rubber legs Barred yellow rubber legs (3 pairs)
- Stick-on eyes Red/black eyes (1 pair)
- Superglue / UV resin Clear uv resin (small amount)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base over the rear half of the shank where the tail and hackle will sit.
- Tie in a tail of two splayed saddle hackles about one shank long, curves facing out, with a few strands of pearl flash over the top.
- Wrap a soft saddle-hackle collar two or three turns just ahead of the tail and sweep the fibers back.
- Slot the pre-cut foam body onto the shank to check fit, then glue it in place over a thread bed with superglue so it cannot spin.
- Thread three rubber legs through each side of the body with a needle so they splay out, one pair front, mid, and rear.
- Set a stick-on eye each side of the head and seal with a dab of UV resin, then whip finish the small thread collar behind the body and snip.
