How to tie it
Lay a thread base over the rear third of the shank for the foam and tail to grip.
Tie in a bucktail tail about 1.5 shank lengths long at the rear, add a few strands of pearl flash, and optionally flank it with a couple of white saddle hackles.
Slide or glue a slim foam pencil body onto the front two-thirds of the shank, pre-slit or pre-drilled, seating it with super glue over the thread base.
The pencil body should taper from a small blunt/cupped face at the front to a thin rear; trim to shape if needed.
Glue a pair of eyes on each side of the head and coat with flexible cement or UV resin if desired.
Whip finish the thread at the very rear of the foam where it meets the tail and add a drop of glue.
