Pearl & Orange Nymph
Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version
Reference Recipe
- Hook Standard nymph hook (bead optional), 12-18
- Thread Orange 8/0
Materials
- Bead (optional) Gold bead (1)
- Pearl tinsel / braid Pearl mylar tinsel (body)
- Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (thorax)
- Orange thread or dubbing Orange ice dub (hot-spot collar)
How to tie it
- Optionally add a gold bead, then start the thread and wrap a smooth base to the bend.
- Tie in pearl braid at the bend and wind it forward in touching turns to the 70% mark for a bright, flashy abdomen.
- Twist 2-3 strands of peacock herl and wrap a short dark thorax in front of the pearl body.
- Build a distinct orange thread (or orange dubbing) collar/hot spot just behind the eye or bead.
- Whip finish and cement; a coat of UV resin over the pearl body adds durability and shine.
