  • Hook Streamer hook, 3X long, 6-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Bead (optional) Gold bead (1)
  • Marabou Black or olive marabou (tail)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (body)
  • Copper wire Copper wire (rib)
  • Saddle hackle Black or grizzly saddle hackle (1, palmered)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally slide a gold bead to the eye, then start the thread and wrap to the bend.
  2. Tie in a marabou tail about one shank long, keeping it dense but not bulky.
  3. Catch in a length of copper wire and a hackle by the tip at the tail.
  4. Twist 4-6 strands of peacock herl into a rope (or wrap around the thread) and wind forward to the bead/eye to build a full, iridescent body.
  5. Palmer the hackle forward in 5-6 open, evenly spaced turns.
  6. Counter-wrap the copper wire forward through the hackle to lock it down and reinforce the fragile herl, then helicopter off the tag.
  7. Whip finish at the head and cement.
