Peaches and Cream

Nymph · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard nymph or jig hook, 12-18
  • Thread Orange 70 denier

Materials

  • Lemon wood duck fibers Lemon wood duck (tail)
  • Buggy nymph dubbing (Mercer's) or fine dubbing Light Cahill / cream (sparse body)
  • Ultra wire Gold wire (small, rib)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and build a small thread ball at the bend to flare and support the tail.
  2. Measure lemon wood duck about three-quarters of a shank long, tie it in against the thread ball, and take a turn under and behind it so the tail cocks slightly upward.
  3. Tie in the small gold wire at the tail.
  4. Spin a very sparse amount of Light Cahill dubbing into a tight dubbing loop, just a bit of fuzz, and wrap it forward to the 80% mark for a slim, buggy body.
  5. Rib the body forward with 4-5 evenly spaced turns of gold wire and helicopter off the tag.
  6. Build a small orange thread head, whip finish and cement.
