  • Hook Curved nymph / stonefly hook, 3X long, 4-10
  • Thread Brown 6/0

Materials

  • Variegated chenille Brown/black (or coffee/black) (body)
  • Round rubber / Sili legs Barred brown rubber legs (3 pairs plus tails and antennae)
  • Lead-free wire - (optional underbody)

How to tie it

  1. Add an optional lead-free underbody over the middle of the shank and cover with thread for a smooth base.
  2. At the bend, tie in two rubber-leg tips as splayed tails about half a shank long, angled up and out.
  3. Tie in the variegated chenille at the bend and run the thread forward.
  4. Wind the chenille forward, stopping to figure-8 a pair of legs at the one-third and two-thirds points so a leg juts out each side.
  5. Carry the chenille to the 85% mark and tie off, then tie in two leg tips at the head as forward-pointing antennae.
  6. Whip finish a neat head and cement; trim tails and antennae to shank length and the four side legs so they reach roughly the hook point.
