  • Hook Curved nymph / stonefly hook, 3X long, 6-10
  • Thread Tan 6/0

Materials

  • Variegated chenille Black/tan (coffee-black) (body)
  • Round rubber legs Tan/barred rubber legs (3 pairs plus tails and antennae)
  • Lead-free wire - (optional underbody)

How to tie it

  1. Optionally wrap a lead-free underbody over the middle third of the shank for weight and lay a thread base over it.
  2. At the bend, tie in two rubber-leg tips splayed as tails, angling slightly out and up, about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in the variegated chenille at the bend and wrap the thread forward.
  4. Wind the chenille forward, pausing to figure-8 in a pair of rubber legs at the one-third and two-thirds points so a pair sticks out each side.
  5. Continue the chenille to the 85% mark and tie off, then tie in two more rubber-leg tips at the head as forward-pointing antennae.
  6. Build a neat head, whip finish and cement; trim all legs so tails and antennae are shank-length and the mid legs reach the hook point.
