Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Curved midge/emerger hook, 18-24
  • Thread Black 8/0-14/0

Materials

  • Tying thread (body) Black thread (body)
  • Fine wire Silver wire (rib)
  • Superfine dubbing Grey/black superfine dubbing (pinch (thorax))
  • Antron / Fluoro fibre White fluorofibre (small tuft (gills))

How to tie it

  1. Mount the midge hook and cover the shank with a smooth thin black thread body down to the bend.
  2. Tie in fine silver wire at the bend.
  3. Wrap the thread body forward to the thorax area, then rib with the silver wire in evenly spaced turns and tie off.
  4. Tie in a small white gill tuft at the head and trim it short over the eye.
  5. Dub a small grey/black thorax behind and around the gills.
  6. Build a small thread head and whip finish.
