  • Hook Streamer / wet-fly hook, 3X-4X long, 8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Brown hackle fibers Brown hackle fibers (tail)
  • Chenille Black chenille (body)
  • Brown hackle Brown hackle (1 feather, collar)
  • Calf tail or bucktail White bucktail (wing)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread at the 75% point and lay a base back to the bend.
  2. Tie in a small bunch of brown hackle fibers for a tail about half a shank long.
  3. Catch in a length of black chenille at the bend, wrap the thread forward, then wind the chenille in touching turns to the 75% mark and tie off.
  4. Tie in a brown hackle by the tip and take 2-3 turns as a wet-fly collar, then sweep and bind the fibers slightly rearward.
  5. Stack a sparse bunch of white calf tail and tie it in as a downwing reaching to the end of the body, tips to the rear.
  6. Trim the butts, build a tapered head, whip finish and cement.
