  • Blob material, UV Ghost with pink (Body)

How to tie it

  1. Set a jig hook with a chartreuse Head Turner bead and start white thread. Thread colour is not important, pink, white, red or chartreuse all work since none of it shows.
  2. Expose a little of the core of the UV ghost-with-pink blob material and tie it in by that core. Stripping to the core stops the tie-in point from bulking out on a fly this short.
  3. Bring the thread forward to the bead.
  4. Wrap the material forward, sweeping the fibres back with each turn so they stand out rather than lying down.
  5. Every few wraps give a firm tug on the material to set it. That extra tightening is what makes the difference between a blob that lasts a season and one that unwinds on the third fish.
  6. At the bead take a couple of wraps over the top and a couple in front to lock it, trim and tidy.
  7. Put glue on the thread and take a couple of turns before whip finishing over it. Whip finishing straight onto wet glue tends to snap the thread. Fish it under an indicator, or strip it on a fast sinker.
