Hare's mask dubbing Natural hare s ear dubbing (pinch)
How to tie it
Start the thread behind the eye and lay a smooth touching-turn base all the way to the bend, then back to the 80% mark; silk goes translucent when wet, so keep this body slim.
Select a soft, well-marked partridge feather, strip the fluffy base fibers, and expose the tip.
Tie the feather in by its tip at the 80% mark, good (shiny) side facing you, then stroke the fibers out of the way.
Twist a wisp of hare's dubbing onto the thread and make two turns to build a small thorax bump right in front of the tie-in; this props the hackle up.
Wind the partridge only 2 turns, stroking the fibers rearward after each turn so they sweep back over the body no longer than the hook shank.
Bind the stem, snip the waste, form a small head, whip finish and add one drop of cement.
