Partridge and Hare's Ear

Tyer Recipe
- Hook standard wet fly / soft hackle, 12-16
- Thread tan 8/0
Materials
- hare's ear dubbing Natural brown hare s mask dubbing (body and thorax)
- fine wire Gold wire (optional rib)
- grey partridge hackle Natural grey/brown hungarian partridge hackle (1-2 turns)
How to tie it
- Start thread behind the eye and lay a base back to the bend.
- Optionally tie in fine gold wire at the bend for the rib.
- Dub a slim, slightly rough hare's ear body forward, leaving room at the head.
- If used, counter-wrap the gold wire rib in open turns and tie off.
- Build a slightly fuller hare's ear thorax at the front.
- Tie in a grey partridge feather by the tip and take 1-2 sparse turns, sweeping fibers back.
- Whip finish.
