Materials
- Poly yarn or calf body hair (post) White calf body hair (small tuft)
- Hackle barbs or microfibetts (tail) Dun hackle (small bunch)
- Fine dry-fly dubbing Gray superfine dubbing (small pinch)
- Dry-fly hackle Dun hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Start the thread and tie in an upright white post at the 70% mark, collaring its base so it stands.
- Tie in a sparse dun tail at the bend, one shank length long.
- Dub a slim gray body from the bend forward to the post.
- Tie a dun hackle in at the post, shiny side up.
- Dub a small thorax around the post base and up to the eye.
- Wind the hackle parachute-style in 4-6 turns and tie off against the post.
- Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement, keeping it off the hackle.
