Materials
- Dry fly hackle Medium dun hackle (1 feather)
- Poly yarn (post) Dun or hi-vis (small clump)
- Dun hackle fibers (tail) Medium dun hackle fibers (small bunch)
- Stripped hackle quill or reddish-brown dubbing (body) Reddish brown (1 quill / pinch)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base and tie in a dun tail one shank length long.
- Stand a post at the 65% mark with criss-cross turns and a front thread dam.
- Wrap a stripped, reddish-brown hackle quill forward as a slim segmented body to the post (or dub reddish brown), then secure.
- Dub a small thorax in front of the post.
- Tie in the medium dun hackle at the post and wind 4-5 turns down the post, then secure.
- Sweep the fibers up, whip finish at the eye, and cement the post base.
