Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry fly, 14-16
  • Thread pink or pale yellow 8/0

Materials

  • Dry fly hackle Light dun or ginger dry fly hackle (1 feather)
  • Poly yarn (post) White poly yarn (small clump)
  • Dun hackle fibers or Microfibbets (tail) Light dun hackle fibers or microfibbets (small bunch)
  • Dry fly dubbing Pink/salmon dry fly dubbing (pinch)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base and tie in a light dun tail one shank length long.
  2. Stand a white post at the 65% mark with criss-cross turns and a front thread dam.
  3. Dub a slim, tapered pink-salmon body from the bend to the post.
  4. Dub a small thorax in front of the post.
  5. Tie in the hackle at the post and wind 4-5 turns down the post, then secure.
  6. Sweep the fibers up, whip finish at the eye, and cement the post base.
