Classic Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry, 18-24

Materials

  • Tail/shuck Antron wisp (short)
  • Body Thread (slim)
  • Post White poly, tiny (upright)
  • Hackle Grizzly, 2-3 turns (parachute)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the dry hook and start black thread.
  2. Tie in a short wisp of Antron at the bend for a trailing shuck, sparse, about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in a small upright post of white poly at the thorax and wrap a thread base up the post to stand it up.
  4. Wrap a slim thread body forward from the shuck to the post, keeping it thread-thin.
  5. Tie in a grizzly hackle at the base of the post and take 2-3 turns around the post, working downward.
  6. Secure the hackle tip against the post and whip finish around the base of the post (not the hook eye) so the wraps don't crush the hackle.
  7. Trim the excess hackle and post to length and add a tiny drop of cement at the post base.
