Reference Recipe
- Hook standard dry fly, 10-14
- Thread tan 8/0
Materials
- Dry fly hackle Brown and grizzly mixed (1-2 feathers)
- Poly yarn (post) Tan or hi-vis (small clump)
- Brown hackle fibers or pheasant tail (tail) Brown hackle fibers (small bunch)
- Dry fly dubbing Amber/tan (March Brown) (pinch)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base and tie in a brown tail one shank length long.
- Stand a post at the 60% mark with criss-cross turns and a front thread dam.
- Dub a tapered amber-tan body from the bend to the post.
- Dub a small thorax in front of the post.
- Tie in the brown and grizzly hackles together at the post and wind 5-6 turns down the post, then secure.
- Sweep the fibers up, whip finish at the eye, and cement the post base.
