- Thread brown 8/0
Materials
- Dry fly hackle Brown hackle (1 feather)
- Poly yarn (post) Gray or hi-vis (small clump)
- Dun or brown hackle fibers (tail) Dun microfibbets (small bunch)
- Dry fly dubbing Mahogany brown (pinch)
How to tie it
- Lay a thread base and tie in a dun tail one shank length long.
- Stand a post at the 65% mark with criss-cross turns and a front thread dam.
- Dub a slim, tapered mahogany body from the bend to the post.
- Dub a small thorax in front of the post.
- Tie in the brown hackle at the post and wind 4-5 turns down the post, then secure.
- Sweep the fibers up, whip finish at the eye, and cement the post base.
