Materials

  • Base Thread Veevus GSP 30 (black)
  • Tying Thread Veevus 10/0 (brown)
  • Dubbing Fine and Dry (tan)
  • Tail Deer hair
  • Wing CDL cape feathers
  • Hackle Dry Fly Rooster Neck (brown)
  • Thorax Peacock herl
  • Resin Solarez Ultra Thin

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base back to the bend.
  2. Form a slim tapered mahogany extended body over a needle or foam sliver so it reaches one shank length past the bend, splitting two or three microfibbet tails at the tip.
  3. Bind the body at the bend and advance to the 65% mark.
  4. Stand an upright post with criss-cross turns and a front thread dam.
  5. Dub a slim mahogany thorax fore and aft of the post.
  6. Tie in the brown hackle at the post, take 4-5 turns down the post, and secure.
  7. Sweep the fibers up, whip finish at the eye, and cement the post base.
