Reference Recipe
- Hook 3XL dry-fly hook, 6-8
- Thread yellow 6/0

- Dry-fly dubbing Pale yellow/cream dubbing (pinch)
- Poly yarn or calf hair (post) Dark gray poly yarn or calf hair (clump)
- Dry-fly hackle 1 grizzly + 1 brown dry fly hackle (2 feathers)
How to tie it
- Start the thread and tie in a splayed deer-hair tail at the bend, about one shank length.
- Tie in an upright dark post at the 65% mark and collar its base so it stands tall.
- Dub a plump, lightly segmented pale-yellow body from the bend forward to the post.
- Tie one grizzly and one brown hackle in at the post, shiny side up.
- Dub a fuller thorax around the post base and up to the eye.
- Wind both hackles parachute-style in 5-7 turns for a big, buoyant footprint and tie off against the post.
- Whip finish at the eye and add a drop of cement, keeping it off the hackle.
