Savage Flies dressing

  • Hook dry fly, 12-20
  • Thread Black or gray

Materials

  • Post Foam cylinder
  • Tail Grizzly hackle fibers
  • Body Muskrat or gray rabbit
  • Hackle Grizzly and brown hackle

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and tie in an upright white post at the 60% mark, collaring its base.
  2. Split two fibett tails widely at the bend, each one shank length.
  3. Dub a thin gray body from the bend to the post.
  4. Tie one grizzly and one brown hackle in at the post, shiny side up, and dub a tiny thorax.
  5. Wind both hackles parachute-style in 4-5 turns and tie off against the post.
  6. Trim the hackle flat across the top so the fibers lie out horizontally in a spent-wing spinner posture.
  7. Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement.
