Materials

  • Microfibetts (tail) Dun microfibetts (2 fibers)
  • Adams gray dubbing Muskrat gray (small pinch)
  • Poly yarn (post) White poly yarn (small tuft)
  • Dry-fly hackle 1 brown + 1 grizzly dry fly hackle (2 feathers)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and tie in an upright white post at the 60% mark, collaring its base.
  2. Split two fibett tails widely at the bend, each one shank length.
  3. Dub a thin gray body from the bend to the post.
  4. Tie one grizzly and one brown hackle in at the post, shiny side up, and dub a tiny thorax.
  5. Wind both hackles parachute-style in 4-5 turns and tie off against the post.
  6. Trim the hackle flat across the top so the fibers lie out horizontally in a spent-wing spinner posture.
  7. Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement.
