  • Hook standard dry-fly hook, 14-20
  • Thread gray 8/0

Materials

  • Micro fibetts (tail) Dun microfibetts (2 fibers)
  • Poly yarn (post) White poly yarn (small tuft)
  • Fine dry-fly dubbing Rusty brown (small pinch)
  • Dry-fly hackle Grizzly hackle (1 feather)

How to tie it

  1. Start the thread and tie in an upright white post at the 60% mark, collaring its base.
  2. Split two fibett tails widely at the bend, each about one shank length.
  3. Dub a thin, even body from the bend forward to the post.
  4. Tie a grizzly hackle in at the post, shiny side up, and dub a tiny thorax.
  5. Wind the hackle parachute-style in 4-5 turns and tie off against the post.
  6. Trim the hackle flat across the top so the fibers lie out horizontally, giving the spent-wing spinner silhouette.
  7. Whip finish at the eye and add a tiny drop of cement.
