Hook 4XL silver streamer hook
Thread Black 30D Nanosilk
Materials
Holographic fly fiber or medium tinsel (body) Silver flashabou (Enough for one full pass of the shank, silver side out)
UV clear finish (body coating), the original used 8-10 lb mono over the tinsel Clear uv finish body coating the original used lb mono over the tinsel (A good coat over the whole body)
Crystal Flash (first wing) Light olive flash (About four strands)
Polar bear hair (second wing) Green shell lip (About ten strands, very sparse)
Polar bear hair (third wing) Blue macaw (A sparse pinch, slightly longer than the green)
How to tie it
Start black thread on the 4XL silver streamer hook and tie in the holographic fly fiber (or silver tinsel) right back at the hook bend.
Bring the thread forward to the eye, then wrap the body material up the shank with the silver side showing, and tie it off. You want a bright silver body.
Coat the whole body generously with UV clear finish, rotating the fly as you go, then smooth it out with a bodkin for an even finish. Cure it with a UV light.
Tie in about four strands of light olive Crystal Flash at the eyelet as the first wing, pulled back so it extends just past the hook bend, and trim.
Tie in a very sparse bunch (about ten strands) of green polar bear hair at the eyelet as the second wing.
Tie in a sparse pinch of blue polar bear hair at the eyelet as the third wing, set slightly longer than the green.
Leaving plenty of room behind the eye for a slim profile, wrap a neat black bullet head over all the tie-in points.
Whip finish a few times to make sure the thread is secure, then coat the head with UV finish (or head cement) and cure it. Build it up to a good size rather than leaving it thin.
