Reference Recipe
- Hook Wet-fly / spider hook, 14-16
- Thread Orange 8/0
Materials
- Silk / thread (body) Orange floss (as body)
- Snipe covert feather (hackle) Dark mottled snipe covert feather (1 small feather)
How to tie it
- Run the orange silk down to the bend and back in touching turns to form a slim, lightly built body ending at the 75% mark.
- Select a small dark snipe marginal-covert feather and tie it in by the tip at the head, good side facing forward.
- Take just one and a half to two sparse turns of the snipe hackle, then secure and trim the stem.
- Stroke the fibers back and down, build a tiny neat head, whip finish and add a pin drop of cement.
