How to tie it
Tie in both ribs at the bend. Wrap the rear half of the body in smooth orange floss, then dub the front half with orange seal fur.
Wrap the flat silver rib forward in 4-5 open turns.
Palmer the long heron-substitute hackle forward alongside the flat rib, one direction, then counter-wrap the oval tinsel through it the opposite way. The counter-turned oval locks the fragile spey hackle so a grabby steelhead can't shred it.
Wind 1-2 turns of teal flank as a throat, fibers sweeping back.
Tie the orange hackle-tip wing in two or three matched pairs, set low and slightly along the sides rather than flat on top. The wider set tents over the body, moves more in the water, and helps the fly track upright.
