Orange Crush Micro Intruder

Streamer · Steelhead · Salmon · Intermediate · 1 version

AvidMax recipe

  • Hook Low-water salmon/steelhead hook (Ahrex HR412 or Gamakatsu Octopus), 2
  • Thread White, with fluorescent orange floss 50 denier

Materials

  • Eyes Fluorescent chartreuse tungsten dumbbell (4.0mm)
  • Body (base) Pearl flat diamond braid (full shank)
  • Body Orange Finn raccoon (sparse)
  • Body (legs) White pearl/orange-tipped two-tone rubber legs (a few per side)
  • Collar Hot orange schlappen (a few turns)
  • Rib Chartreuse Senyo intruder wire (counter-wrapped)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in the tungsten dumbbell eyes about a hook-eye's length back from the eye, and cover with a few wraps of orange floss to lock them in.
  2. Tie in a length of chartreuse Senyo intruder wire at the rear of the shank for the rib, then bind down a strip of pearl flat diamond braid over the rest of the shank and wind it forward to the eyes.
  3. Tie in a sparse clump of orange Finn raccoon along the top of the body for movement, followed by a few two-tone rubber legs on each side.
  4. Counter-wrap the intruder wire forward through the raccoon and legs to rib the body and lock everything down, then tie off just behind the eyes.
  5. Wind a collar of hot orange schlappen just behind the eyes, sweeping the fibers back with each turn, then whip finish. Finish the head and wraps with UV resin or head cement.
