  • Hook Wet/nymph hook, 10-14

Materials

  • Cock hackle fibres Natural brown cock hackle fibres (small bunch (tail))
  • Pheasant tail fibres Natural pheasant tail fibers (small bunch (body))
  • Wire Copper wire (fine, for rib)
  • Peacock herl Natural peacock herl (2 strands (thorax))
  • Hen hackle Brown hen hackle (1 (collar))

How to tie it

  1. Start the orange thread and run it to the bend, leaving an orange hot-spot showing at the head later.
  2. Tie in a few cock hackle fibres for a short tail about half a shank long.
  3. Tie in fine copper wire and a bunch of pheasant tail fibres at the bend.
  4. Wind the pheasant tail forward to two-thirds of the shank and secure.
  5. Counter-rib with the copper wire in open turns; secure and trim.
  6. Wind a short peacock herl thorax.
  7. Wind one or two turns of hen hackle as a collar and sweep the fibres back.
  8. Build a small orange thread head and whip finish.
