- Hook Up-eye salmon/steelhead wet hook, 2-6
- Thread Black 6/0
Materials
- Oval silver tinsel (tag) Silver oval tinsel (few turns)
- Golden pheasant crest (tail) Golden yellow pheasant crest (1 feather)
- Flat and oval tinsel (body / rib) Silver oval tinsel (1 length each)
- Bucktail (wing) Orange over white (1 sparse bunch each)
- Hackle (collar) Hot orange hackle (1 feather)
How to tie it
- Start the thread and lay a short tag of oval silver tinsel at the bend.
- Tie in a golden pheasant crest as a tail curving upward.
- Tie in the oval rib, then wrap a flat silver tinsel body forward to the 80% mark and rib it with 5 evenly spaced turns of oval tinsel.
- Stack and tie in a sparse white bucktail wing, then a hot-orange bucktail wing over it, both reaching to the tail tip.
- Wrap a hot-orange hackle collar of two or three turns and sweep the fibers back.
- Form a neat black head, whip finish and lacquer.
