Orange Bead Straggle Leech

Streamer · Stillwater · Trout · Intermediate · 1 version

BCFlyguys

  • Hook Jig hook, 10
  • Thread Black 8/0

Materials

  • Head turner bead, slotted bead also works Orange slotted tungsten bead (1)
  • Marabou (small bunch, tail a shank length)
  • UV Straggle, 5mm (body)

How to tie it

  1. Put an orange head turner bead on a size 10 jig hook and start black 8/0 thread. A slotted bead works just as well.
  2. Tie in a small bit of marabou and bind it down the shank to keep the underbody even.
  3. Pinch the tail off at about the same length as the shank. Pinching rather than cutting leaves a soft, uneven tip that moves better than a scissored one.
  4. Tie 5mm UV Straggle in at the back.
  5. Wind the Straggle forward in touching turns to form the body and tie it off behind the bead.
  6. Whip finish and glue the thread wraps. Do not let the simplicity fool you, this thing crushes.
